From Most Reverend Kevin W. Vann
Bishop of Fort Worth
To the Catholic Faithful in the Diocese of Fort Worth:The purpose of this letter is to introduce you to the Guadalupe Radio Network, a nonprofit, lay-owned Catholic Radio group that is working toward launching a station for Catholic programming in the Fort Worth, Dallas area. This is a great time to bring Catholic radio to our area. By means of this station we will be able to bring the message of Christian faith to Catholics, other Christians, and to those who have no religious faith. We will be able to reach them in their homes, at work, or traveling in their automobiles with Catholic doctrine, liturgical and catechetical teaching and more.
The New Evangelization with its emphasis on teaching and living our Catholic faith with the enthusiasm and energy of the first disciples is important to all of us as we seek to build God's Kingdom in our society. Catholic Radio has the power to magnify our efforts as we seek to inspire Catholics to daily live a deeper, more vibrant faith.
This lay initiative will help fill a significant gap in religious broadcasting, where so many of the other Christian churches have a strong voice, but Catholic voices are virtually absent. Pope John Paul II said, "If you live Christianity without compromise, you will set the world on fire." The clear message of the Gospel proclaimed over the airwaves by Catholic Radio can help to ignite this flame and change lives eternally.
I have given my endorsement to La Promesa Foundation in their efforts to bring the Guadalupe Radio Network to our area. I ask all of the faithful to consider whether God might be calling you to support this effort so that its important mission for the salvation of souls and the transformation of our world can reach an ever wider audience.
May God bless all of us as we strive to spread the Gospel throughout North Texas.
